For the past ten years, I think I have used more than 50 web hosting providers; most of them are from the States. So far, I haven’t yet found any provider that can compare with this one – PlanetHoster. Here is a straightforward question: If you are a shared web hosting user, does your provider give you multiple control panels or IPs? Interested? Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of PlanetHoster:
Pros
Multiple cPanels – For the price of a regular shared web hosting service, you receive more than one control panel. For some users, they prefer having a reseller account, not because they want to resell web hosting; they want to have more than one control panel to operate their websites. The reasons could be ease of management or better security. With PlanetHoster, your basic package will give you a specific set of resources such as CPU, RAM and I/O. Depends on your preference, you can set up one account for each website, that is 100% site isolation.
Multiple IPs – Sometimes, you want different IP address for each of your websites. PlanetHoster has a feature called IPextension which allows you to assign a different IP address to each of your domain. There are 1000 additional IPs for you to choose from, and that’s more than you ever need.
Better Resources – The basic package includes 8 CPU, 16 GB RAM, 16 MB/s I/O. Say, if you put everything into one account, your cPanel will show I/O usage 16MB, IOPS 4096, Entry Processes 50, Physical Memory Usage 16GB, Number of Processes 100. That’s way better than most providers which offer a similar service.
DMCA Not Applicable – PlanetHoster is a French/Canadian company, so DMCA does not apply to them. If for whatever reason, you prefer a non-US web host, you could check out PlanetHoster.
Free Hosting – Their free hosting package is quite decent, enough to run a starter WordPress site. You get 750MB disk usage, 2 subdomains, 2 emails, 3 FTP account, physical memory 256MB, IOPS 1024, I/O usage 1MB/s, Number of Processes 100, Entry Processes 5. And if you upgrade to the paid version, you get 50% off, i.e. $59.40 a year.
Affordable Pricing – The regular package, they call it the “World Platform” only costs $9.90 a month. You can easily upgrade your package with more CPU, I/O, and RAM (expandable to 1024 CPU, 2048 MB/s I/O, and 2048 GB RAM).
Cons
French Documentation – Most email communications, forum support, and help files are in French. So, if you are new to web hosting, expect lots of advice, and don’t plan to use any language translator software, you might have a problem setting things up. But you can always email them in English, and I believe they will be more than happy to assist you.
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons quite a bit, wouldn’t you say? Anyhow, if you happen to know any other web hosts that provide the above features, most importantly, the multiple control panels and IPs, and with a similar budget, please let me know, I would like to give it a try.
