Most people tend to sleep on a regular schedule during the weekdays, and then get up late during the weekends. Depends on what time we get prepared and ready to go out, sometimes, we make it just in time to order early bird specials on some breakfast joints. Otherwise, we will look for places which offer all-day breakfasts. Nowadays, many restaurants provide all-day breakfast; it isn’t uncommon to eat breakfast during lunch hours.
Almost all breakfasts look the same; usually, you get a couple of eggs, a few pieces of ham or bacon, and some toast and fries to complete the meal. It looks all so simple, but after having breakfasts in more than ten places, you can see some difference, mainly in the area of food quality and customer service.
I remember one horrible experience. We used to visit this one breakfast chain restaurant and order those three eggs with bacon meals. One day, we accidentally took a glimpse of the kitchen inside and saw that the cook is putting cooked bacon on egg cartons. I bet he planned to use the cardboard carton to absorb bacon fat. That’s highly unhygienic. Eggshells are dirty and could have salmonella. I wrote their corporate office a complaint, but I’m not sure management would do anything about it. And all we can do is stop going to that branch, and try some other places.
Here are some breakfast joints that we regularly vist:
Catch the Early Train Special – You get three eggs and choice of either Pork bacon, ham or sausage. It comes with toast and choice of home fries, roasted potatoes or rice. It costs $6.99. It’s available from 6 am to 11 am daily.
The Classic Early Birds – 3 Eggs cooked any style with three pieces of bacon, turkey bacon, ham or sausage with Texas toast, signature home fries and seasonal fruit garnish. Available on weekdays from 7 am to 10 am.
Cora’s Special – It has two eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, pancake and potatoes.
All-Day Breakfast – Three eggs, any style with bacon, ham or sausage.
All-Day Breakfast – Three eggs, served with home fries and thick toast, with bacon, ham, sausage, peameal bacon, turkey bacon, or corned beef hash.
The list is not in particular order. But somehow we prefer Sunset Grill, and there is one close to our home. The place is decent, food quality is good, the decor is okay, and service is excellent.
