From Blogspot To WordPress

It seems fun to run my own self-hosted blog, so I registered a domain name and got some web hosting from Namecheap. The Ultimate package is pretty cool, starting price is C$36.82/year, and renewal price is C$160.06/year. It comes with unmetered SSD-Accelerated disk space and bandwidth, and it can host up to 50 domains. I read somewhere that they also give you free SSL for new domain and hosting setup, but I have to try those later. First things first, need to import old posts first.

So I tried to import my posts from Blogspot to WordPress, it didn’t work as expected. The import tool does not import everything. It mainly only imports the content, but not the image attachments. All the images are still stored in the Google album. To screw things up further, it convert all former Blogspot labels to categories here in WordPress. It’s a mess. I ended up doing it the traditional way. Since I don’t have many posts, it didn’t take long to get things running. The theme I choose is Twenty Twelve, I kinda like its minimalist design, maybe later I’ll purchase a theme somewhere. Next I’m going to try a few more plugins and see how things go.

Hey, if you plan to start your own blog and need web hosting, here is my Namecheap affiliate link https://affiliate.namecheap.com/?affId=103012
